Well - had an ace afternoon at the Cardiff White Water Centre with Dan and Rich, a raging 100 m rapid, an escalator and a cafe, and it's there all year round all for just ten quid!

Now is anyone up for a surf this week end - can do either Saturday or Sunday, message, text or Facebook me!

Topic : Surf and/or whitewater paddling next week?

Hi all - Am home alone for a few days next week and so to relieve the bordom thought it would be a good opportunity to get in a trip to the Cardiff Whitewater Centre and possibly some surf at the Devon north coast .

The family are away from Wed 28 July to Sun 01 Aug, was thinking of Thursday arvo or Sunday for the CWWC and one evening or Saturday for some surf at Woolacombe / Saunton.

Let me know whether you fancy it and we can share a lift. I will be driving from Quantocks / Bridgwater area.

Ta John

Topic : Necky Bliss 8'0

Unfortunately due to a nasty accident I am unable to use my kayak for the forseeable future. It is a Necky Bliss 8'0 as stated in the title and in is very good condition. It is yellow/orange/green. I am 6'1" and 14 stone and fitted in it quite easily. It has the usuual scratches on the bottom from launching/river running but none are deep and it has never been repaired to the best of my knowledge. It has two airbags that can go with it. It has been very enjoyable and stable to paddle and is great in the surf. I am a novice paddler and found it very easy to use. I am sure it is worth a lot more but for a quick sale I will take £200. Please give me a ring on 01884 243243 for more details. Thanks Owen

Topic : Club Clothing!

We now have a page on the website dedicated to the club clothing. Hoodies, t-shirts, polos, fleeces, and beanies. Pictures of the samples can be found on this page as well as prices. If anybody wishes to order please contact me with colour and size of the garment you require! If anyone has anything specific they would like eg: a sweatshirt opposed to a hoodie then let me know and I can sort out a price. Hoodies can be made up with the same logos as the fleeces if you would rather not have the bright yellow logo! Cheers Bricey

Topic : Wednesday Evening paddles

Hi All! Just a quick message! Wednesday evening paddles are proving to be a success again this year with many juniors and seniors coming along for their respective sessions! We as a club are looking to improve these sessions for the remaining two months of the scheduled Wednesdays evenings. In order to do this we are looking for feedback from all participants, it's your time and we want to make best use of it. For example: we've had suggestions of a bit more structure. i.e.: a group going for a trip, a group doing 2/3* skills and a rolling clinic. Other suggestions have been for a rescue practice evening, using some fun games to practice these all important skills that will come in handy for the up and coming winter river season!! There is also a possibility of getting an expert play-boater in to do some specific freestyle clinics but these would be at an additional cost depending on he price of a coach. Of course, we cannot cater for evry individual on every evening so a little flexibility is needed which I'm sure you'll appreciate. Please feel free to post a message or e-mail me at danbrice80@googlemail.com, or speak to me at the sessions with your ideas! Many Thanks Dan Brice

Topic : BBQ at the lake this Wednesday's evening session?

Hi all, as this Wednesday's paddle session falls within the Summer Half Term and the kids don't have to be in bed for school, a few of us thought it might be good to have another BBQ. If peoples fancy it I'm sure Dan French will be able to borrow the big drum BBQ from the Lake management and we can have the same 'Bring your own' BBQ as we had a few weeks ago. Let's just hope the weather is as good as forecast :-) Looking forward to it already, John H

Am selling my Dagger Blast - is in good condition, with only a few light scratches and a little bump to the nose. Has all the usual, 2 grab handles, moulded seat, drain plug. Great boat, just a little too large for my kids and so am looking for something smaller. Is on eBay, with 5 days left - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330435699085 Cheers John

Topic : Spring Clean at Wimbleball Lake

We had a successful couple of hours up at the lake today sorting all the club kit. Everything now has ben stock checked and repaired if needed and packed away in both trailers. We decided that we would give the boats a good clean on wed after the second summer eve paddle. Thanks to Frenchie, Doug, Deb, Rosie, Mel and John P for all your help and continued commitment to Exmoor Canoe Club.See you all on Wednesday. Bricey

Topic : IronMan 2010

Hey Bob,

Ironman event is on Sunday 20th June, hopefully BBQ at the lake the evening before and then an early start...although I believe later than previous years so we hopefully won't have to sit in our boats surrounded by mist for the first hour. I am liasing with the organisers and will post more info.

If volunteers would like to start emailing confirming that they can help that would be great - exmoorcanoeclub@hotmail.co.uk

Cheers

Katrina :)
