Hey guys, as many of you may have heard the access agreement to the Upper Barle has changed and therefore in order to keep relationships with local landowners good we have decided to alter the route of the Barle Race from Tarr Steps to Exebridge, to now be from Marsh Bridge to Exebridge.
We have also decided to change the date of the race to a later date of Sunday 18th april, partly because the Lower barle has access for later in the year and secondly because we had taken our eye off the game slightly with all the hassle over access and pool issues.
Anyway - the good news is we now have longer to prepare, the water will hopefully be warmer and the pub can still fit us in for food. Also Bob and Geoff have voluneteered to act as safety on the steps, so we'll all be in good safe hands.
This should be a great day and it would be great if everyone from the club could be involved and make a really fun race day. |

Oh! Damn! Deb and I would love to be there, but we'll be flying back from Nepal, that Sunday!
I suppose we could cancel our trip to be there.......but, nah!
Hope you all have a great time, rest assured that we're gutted we won't be there

Hey guys!
Hope loads of you are booking onto this club event??? It should be a really fun and sociable day for the club but it really does need plenty of entries to make the contest more appealing! I;m in the process of organising some prizes and some freebies to give away in team entry packs for the day!
Even if you don't want to race come along and support, take photo's and be part of our great club. The club really does rely on the support of it's members to make sure that it is sustainable and trips like the lakes, pool sessions and the summer evening paddles are all possible for years to come!

Hey guys and gals - just over a week to go before the first Exmoor Canoe Club Barle race. We still need more of you to fill out the entry forms and send into Katrina, please. Should be a really good day and would be ace if we could get as many people as possible on the river at once. You don't have to race down (if you don't want to), you can plod, bob along and just have fun - there again if you do want to race there's a cup and prizes for the winning team! After the race there'll be nosh in the Anchor and may be a drink or two. See you all there - AND GET THOSE FORMS COMPLETED AND SENT IN ASAP. |

Just done form and popped a cheque in as well. Really excited it going to be a cracking day!

Bob, you might be lucky enough to get some ecc stickers but sadly a no go on the t-shirt!!! However, we will be displaying the new ECC Club clothing on the Race Day and will be taking orders!!!! Thanks to all who have entered and thanks to John H for doing loads of phoning around and chasing entries! This should be a cracking social event for the club and a good lead in to the summer evening paddles. Please remember we do need your entry forms before the race. See you all on sunday! Good Luck |

Thanks Bricey - two more confirmed this evening, that's 22 racers in total. Some old faces, some new, some keen and fit, some battered and tired and some out for a lazy plod. Please do your best to get forms filled in and cheques to Katrina as soon as possible. I am meeting up with Bricey on Friday and Katrina will get the forms and cheque to him the day before. So if you can't guarantee your form and money getting to Katrina by Thursday then bring it on the day and arrive early on Sunday. As said before, race will start at Marsh Bridge from 12.30, please arrive at Exebridge at 11.30 to be ready to shuttle at 12.
There'll be tea and coffees at Exebridge and cold drinks at Marsh Bridge. Can't wait. |
